Kristin Adams gets an Ancestor-Inspired Makeover | Relative Race

♪♪ [laughing] Oh my gosh.Hi, I’m Kristin Adams. My husband and I make family
friendly online content. And today I’m getting a makeover
inspired by my grandma. Her family immigrated
from Russia.
She was born in
Herington, Kansas.
A very small town,where
I spent a lot of summers and a lot of family vacations. Probably one of my biggest
memories of my grandparents, was their fiftieth
wedding celebration. The whole town came. Everyone was
dancing and having a blastto see your grandparents,
your parents and yourself
all having fun
under one roof.
Yeah, that goes down into te
memory book hall of fame for m.
I just remember
when we would drive in,
her and my grandpa would
always be outside waiting. And we didn’t have cell
phones back then to call, like, were they waiting
for a whole hour? Like, they wouldn’t
run out when we pulled up. They were waiting
on the curb. And when we would drive away, they would stay
until the end of the block, you know, and the goodbyes
always got harder. She was just a sweet lady, her and my grandfather
were good people. [laughing] Oh my gosh. This is so beautiful. I love the blue and these earrings
are just amazing. I want to have a 1939 wedding
and renew my vows, like now. [laughing] This is,
uh, take me back in time.Really thinking
about who we are
and what we want
to put out in the world
is really important now
more than ever.
Relative Race combines
both of those things.
I think it’s valuable for
people to ask themselves,
what is my legacy, what legacy do I want to leave?Relative Race sayswow, I want to know
where I came from
and I want a purpose.Thank you is probably the first thing
I would say to my grandma. Just thank you for your legacy, and for loving
your kids well,
for raising my mom well.I wish I would have asked
more questions.
I think if my grandma were here
I would say thank youand I would be full of
questions.
[laughing]♪♪
